Fun...what is that? Something that makes you smile. That makes you feel good. Fun can be weird also. Sometimes you only think that is funny once you started, but up front you do not think it is funny at all!! This is how it can be for me a few minutes before a live performance...you think "why do I do this?"..."why do I even bother to get on that stage?". But after the first chords this feeling is replaced by a big smile and a feeling of getting home. As you probably guessed by now I'm having the most fun with playing guitar and making music with my band and friends.
As a guitarist you only need one or two guitars and only one amplifier to play in a band. That should be enough. But I have a disorder..a big one. It's called G.A.S. And it means that you do not need a valid reason to buy gear....and to go out and buy gear...lots of gear..and to never sell it again. G.A.S. stands for Gear Acquisition Syndrome, and I'm infected to the bone! And the trouble with guitars is that they are all unique. So if you have a Fender Strat you still want another Fender Strat..the urge to buy another does not stop. Maybe for a week or so, but after that the urge starts again. It is an addiction. And the SOBS of the guitar producing companies...they know it!! They never, I mean never make a guitar that is perfect...but they can! I know that for sure!! It is all a big conspiracy! So that I need to drag around 4 or more guitars (acoustic, 7 string, tremelo, non tremelo etc). The same can be said for guitar amps.. of course they can make a Fender, Mesa and Marshall into one amp (they are all based on more or less the same scheme)...but they don't!! So I need to have different amps or live a musical life full with compromises. Which I do. Because my budget, car space and back don't allow me to lug around all that stuff! And the strangest thing is..I get pleasure from this all....I know, I'm sick..
Ok, enough ranting about my G.A.S. Luckely there are still some other things I like in life as in computer gaming, photography, having a drink with friends, talk nerdy about gadgets..or about life!
